Beginner Luma3DS questions

Hello 3DS experts. I have no experience with any DS products, but I have experience with modding in general.

I enjoy the portable nature of the 3DS. Nicely smaller than my Switch, plus something new to play with. I’m looking to buy a used system and I’m hoping to install a CFW like Luma3DS. It looks like I may need a legit game (kind of like WiiU), but I’m not sure.

Any possible suggestions of a maximum firmware to buy, game which should be bought (if necessary), and anything else to...

I'm going to do my best to explain the situation in full. It's a big one, and I need the whole community's help.

A few months ago, I attempted an Old 3DS to New 3DS official transfer, the plan being to add CFW to the new one later which I did.. Many things went both right and wrong, but I had to install tikshop on the new one to get my CFW games back. Something went wrong along the way I suppose, resulting in a sort of SD corruption where attempting to read the title of a corrupted game...

Can´t play pokemon super mystery dungeon, can you help me?

I installed a cia of pokemon super mystery dungeon using FBI and it worked fine and got installed but when I open the game it says [​IMG] after the nintendo 3ds loading screem.

PD: Using luma3ds has CFW and emunand in 11.X, have installed games before and worked fine except monster hunter 3 ultimate (It gives me the same error)

Yesterday I have done some searching to see if it was safe to update to 11.8 and I read luma needed to be updated so I did all of the fun stuff ( updating luma,b9s,gm9 ) I know my system is not banned and I have changed the dns but nothing seems to fix. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Homebrew Launcher no longer loads up

Hi guys,

Had a hacked 3ds on 11.6 for quite a while now, I picked it up after a few months of not using it, tried to launch Homebrew Launcher and got some kind of exception error message.

So I updated my B9S and Luma3ds to the latest versions and tried again... this time opening it resulted it crashing on the generic "Homebrew" splash screen and not going any further.

Finally I installed the latest Homebrew Launcher CIA using FBI - now it loads the blue HB Launcher splash screen but...

Homebrew Launcher no longer loads up

DSiWare.bin matching information with movable.sed

Hello

So, I have 11.8 3ds and I obviously want to CFW it.

Luckily, my best friend has already a B9S compatible dsiware game!

So, he gave me the .bin file from his SD card.

I got the movable.sed (from a steelhax tutorial)

I went to TADople and... you know the results
The DSiWare.bin cannot be decrypted with the movable.sed!

Is there any impossible way I can match the .bin information with the movable.sed? (Hint: I have a hex editor called "HxD Hex Editor")

MHS demo save cant transfer?

Hello community,

I just finished the Demo version of monster hunter stories which I installed as EUR cia. Now i want to transfer that save to the full version of the game but sadly the game doesn't load the demo save. I tried to delete and reinstall the fullversion but it still doesn't detect the save of my demo. Someone have any tips to fix that? :/

hello angels and demons from the temp!
i was wondering, between the formats .3ds and .cia, is there a difference in quality or ban risk?

if i have some ''.3ds'' backups, should i convert them into cias or its better to just redownload them in cia format?

and just to be sure, its still safe to play online with cias installed on cfw, right?

cia game icons and freeshop disappeared from home menu, but can still launch game from fbi>titles?

My cia game icons disappeared from home menu right after I was trying delete my game from system software. Its shown 'this game could not be deleted' but after I reopenned it, this game has already been deleted with more freespace.. but suddenly all my games disappeared from home menu.. but still can launch it from fbi>titles.. And now, I cant install any cia files anymore too (failed to install cia, fat operation denied).. Sorry for my bad english..

Can anyone help me? Thanks..

SOLUTION: use Decrypt9 for cntrnand transfer. It uses different method of installing it.

Hello there. my friend is having problem with his O3DSXL. He can get to luma settings, but when he clicks start to reboot, it shows this error (attachment):

Processor: ARM9
Exception type: prefetch abort (svcBreak)

First he was on luma 6.6 and A9LH. Now he is on B9S and luma 8.1.1
He can't boot to system (only luma settings and payloads)

What is he doing wrong?

Hombrew Launcher Hangs with any 3dsx

I've just updated to luma3ds 9.1, hombrew laucher is freshly downloaded and I'm running 11.8

I can load hombrew launcher from rosalina just fine, it's just trying to launch any 3dsx hangs the system and forces me to make a power cycle. Home button is not triggering it's IRQ so I know the system is fried.

Any clues on what's going on? I think I still have b9s 1.2 instead of 1.3, i'll check in the meantime.

EDIT: Yup, it's still 1.2.

(I tried to google this solution myself but most posts were from 2014-2015 with older versions)

This may be a noob question. I have been owning my modded 3DS for a few months. I was not the one who modded it.

I was wanting access to Pokemon Bank (the legit version). I have been using it on my 3DS basically since it came out. Well, I have not updated to 11.8 and I know the dangers of doing so. I do not play online, but really don't want to get banned.

So, I bought this card without doing much research and took most of the advice from someone on Discord. It shipped today and I forgot that flashcarts go into the game slot so I have to get a second microSD tomorrow. Anyways, I'm kinda confused on what I can do with it. My main questions are:
  • Can I install and play 3DS titles in ntrboot mode? (via .cia files in FBI)
  • Can I run .nds files from my system microSD?
  • How bad is the battery drain, if any?
