Considering getting a DSTWO+, good idea or should I go Gateway?

I have a DSTWO and have been happy with it 100% since getting it, it's simply the best DS flashcard I've ever used. Granted I no longer emulate GBA or SNES games on the DS because of frame skipping but the multi save feature and save states for DS games are very useful to me, even to this day.

Now, the DSTWO+ is out, and I'm considering getting it. However, I understand it emulates Gateway. Does that make this a Gateway clone, susceptible to bricks from newer official Gateway firmwares or...
